Khador Juggernaut part: II
As you can see i finished my Juggernaut today I could not decide witch set of photos showed it better seance the brighter ones you could see better details but the large plates looked totally washed out and the opposite was true of the darker ones although I still don't think you can see the larger plated properly.
In both you will see that my model is totally lacking faction marks and i think this picture of my pallet will show you why....
I just cant seem to get it to look correctly so I decided to leave them off for now

This looks awesome, love the verdigris effects. I don't know about the markings, if you're not convinced of their accuracy can't you do them as if they've been painted on and there are drips coming off them. Are these markings the sort that any old grunt would daub on their machine - in which case not everyone is Da Vinci. Having them a little haphazard might be cool, perhaps add some slogans too? Or is that not in keeping with the fluff?
ReplyDeletethank you. but to answer your question all of these guys come off a factory line in the mother land and in fact this faction in particular are careful to make there warjacks as high quality as possible because they lack the ability to build the "cortexs" in sufficient quantity. At some point I am going to add chipping to his paint perhaps some scratches that sort of thing to make it look older and used. for the faction marks I think the best way to do it will be to buy some printable slide transfer paper and make up some in the correct size.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I am really impressed with this guy. We should play again soon (tonight!?). I would just print the symbol a bunch of times at different sizes, test which one fits, X-acto it out, use it as a template on a piece of frisket (which I will give you), and fire away.
ReplyDeleteI had never herd of "frisket" before now but it seems just the thing for the job. I was all ready thinking of making something up in paint.net and X-actoing it out and painting it in. But I was going to use plane paper very carefully and see what i could do. They both need there markings and weathering to really make them pop.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the 'jack. Frisket is sheet of tacky film that airbrushers use to mask things off. If you saw the battle boards in the Stomping Grounds I used the frisket to masks of the background area.
ReplyDeleteFor the symbols consider a fine point sharpie or a Micron pen. I use the Micron pens for the text on scrolls and purity seals. Also I laid out the tiger stripes on the griffon by 'drawing' the stripes then just painting inside the lines.
I have some micron pens I use when doing the checks on my orks and some other things occasionally they are nice. But i think the frisket is going to be my best bet for getting this right I just have to play with what I want in paint.net for a bit and I should be good to go. Thanks for the info tho I all wise enjoy learning something new.
